Here is my current thesis statement:
In this novel, we learn that Sonny partakes in some risky business, has a local hang out spot, and has a few very diverse adult influences; which in my oppinion are all typical teenage behaviors.
Revised thesis statement:
Throughout this novel I have learned so much about Sonny Bravo including his risky behavior, his local hangout spot, and his adult influences; now using reader response threory, I will discuss key elements that prove Sonny to be a typical American teenager.
For anyone reading this, feel free to help me by critique and of course constructive criticism! Thanks!

ReplyDeleteYour revision does a better job structurally, but I'd encourage you to delve deeper into what your analysis uncovers.
ReplyDeleteHere are some questions to ponder:
If your argument is that Sonny is like a typical American Teen, then what does your paper teach us about what it's like to be an American Teen? Or what does your paper explain about the state about our society? Or how do the different eras (yours and Sonny's) increase or decrease the difficulty of being a teen? And, if this is status quo, then how do teens navigate through the difficult terrain depicted in this novel? How do violence, alcohol abuse, single-parenting and racial discrimination shape American teens?
Also, read my post on Constructing an Argument and incorporate an active verb in your thesis that makes claim about what you have figured out about yourself and/or American teens as a result of reading this novel.
what type of analisis are you writing about?
ReplyDeletehey kelly!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI am using the reader response theory to analyze Sonny as what I consider him to be as a typical American teen.
